- 2 cups Kabuli chana ( Chickj peas)
- 2 litres water
- 2 tea bags,1/4 tsp baking soda,4 cloves,cinnamon,black cardacamom
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 4 cloves
- 2 tsp cinnamon powder
- as required black cardamam
- for gravy
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 4 mediumsized onion,4 tomatoes,2tsp ginger garlic paste,3 chillie
- 4 tomatoes
- 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 3 chillies
- 3 tbsp Chole Masala Powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- as per taste salt
- For garnishing
- Few coriander leaves
Instructions to make to make Punjabi Chole Masala
- Soak 2 cups Kabul chana in water for 8hrs. Strain water, add tea bag, baking soda, and spices and cook for 5 whistles in pressure cooker. After that allow the cooker to cool, remove lid and tea bags, and spices from the cooker.



- In a heated pan add 3 tbsp oil,1 tsp of cumin seeds, fry ginger-garlic paste, onion, and tomato paste..for 5 mins on low flame...



- Then add 3 tbsp of Chole Masala Powder,1tsp of turmeric powder, mix it well fo 2 minutes and then remove tea bags and spices from cooked chole and add it in prepared gravy, add salt as per taste and boil for 15 mins


- After boiling, gravy gets thickened and tasty.

- Switch off the gas, transfer it in a serving bowl and garnish it with freshly chopped coriander leaves...Serve it hot with rotis,bhatures, or rice.
